International Interpretation Course

The first goal of the foundation is to organize an International Interpretation Course on a regular basis in Romania. This will be organized in the vacation home of Dinu Lipatti in Fundateanca, 120 km from Bucharest, in the beautiful region of Arges in the central-southern part of Romania.

In this historically restored vacation home, built by the Lipatti family (now also the location of a small archival exhibit), Dinu spent his holidays, composed, and prepared his concerts.

The repertoire of this course will focus on Lipatti's recorded repertoire, his compositions for piano, and compositions that were dedicated to him. During daily sessions with internationally reknowned pianists and pedagogues, all with profound knowledge of Lipatti's art, Lipatti's recorded solo piano repertoire will be played (on Lipatti's Bechstein grand piano) and his ideas about interpretation compared and discussed.

Housing may be provided in Fundateanca and hotels in the nearby city of Pitesti (hundred twenty thousand inhabitants). Transport from and to the Bucharest Airport, as well as all minibus transport and meals during the course will be provided by the foundation.

At the end of the course a recital presentation by the participants will take place at the George Enescu memorial-house in Sinaia.

Professional young international pianists between 17 and 26 interested to take part in this course are invited to contact Jan Marisse Huizing.
